Why Dir en grey (or any Japanese rock band) in Rock Band
Why Rock Band?
Since its original release, the video game Rock Band has sold over 17 million units. In its earliest days, it boasted a modest 300+ songs. Available DLC (downloadable content) of songs now exceeds 3,000. To date, music is released weekly on the Rock Band Network and through its standard gaming updates. What’s this mean?
If you don’t have the patience to hang out by the phone and wait for Rock Band to call, there’s a faster and easier way to get in the game - upload the songs yourself or get someone to do it for you.
Between yesterday and today, here’s the new rankings for Dir en grey and B’z in the “most requested artist of all time” list in Rock Band.
Dir en grey: #136 B’z: #141
This means Dir shot up nearly 30 places while B’z rose by 40. If you voted for Dir en grey - great job! If not, now’s a good time to push them into the top 100! We’re so close ._. And B’z is too close for comfort >_<
A couple of weeks ago, I was looking at the “most requested artists of all time” on the Rock Band dashboard, an app on Facebook. Dir en grey was listed as #420 at the time. After asking around to some other Dir fans, they jumped to #313 most requested in a week. In another two days, #166. The “problem”?
One of my friends is a B’z fan and had the same idea of upping the ranking of her favorite band. Going to other B’z fans, B’z’s ranking went from #1671 to #181 - in three days.
Now the challenge is on - which Japanese rock band will make it to the top 100 most requested artists of all time for Rock Band? Dir en grey or B’z? Please vote! (for Dir en grey!)
Sales Post - Memorabilia - X JAPAN, LUNA SEA, Dir en grey, Yoshikitty
As with most sales posts concerning memorabilia, I wouldn’t if I didn’t have to. Some of these pieces have great sentimental value for me, but I know they’re also pieces that other fans would find as much enjoyment in owning. More details follow all posts.
Our first item is an autographed photo of X JAPAN with Sugizo. The photo itself was originally part of a fan package made by JrockRevolution.com, called the “X Perience Package”. After the initial sales, a limited number of photos were then signed by all five members of the band. If memory serves me correctly, less than fifty of these photos were signed, which makes them a pretty rare item.
Dir en grey m/g at House of Blues, Sunset Strip, Dec 23
Over a year ago, I had blogged about seeing Dir en grey at the Ogden Theatre in Denver, Colorado. How my youngest nephew wanted to come with me. At the time, I had thought I had years of concert hopping to enjoy before they became a family affair.
Did not happen that way.
When Dir en grey announced their tour dates this year, I said we could either take them along or try and make it back for Christmas. The original plan called for a jaunt in Disneyland. But when the 24th rolled around, the weather suggested either head back now or extend our vacation. Neither was incredibly viable.
Fortunately, my kids have been to Las Vegas before and suggested we stay there instead since it’s on the way home and they have their favorite places to visit. But that wasn’t all we got to enjoy.
At the December 23rd show of Dir en grey in the fabulous House of Blues on the Sunset Strip, I had VIP for me and my nephew.
Our epic adventure begins here in Denver, Colorado. In the week before Dir en grey played the Bluebird Theatre on December 20th, our sticker (and then flier) campaign got underway. Before we go into that, let’s talk about some of the players on our wild ride. Of course, I was there. I didn’t even have to drive much *heh*. The names of some of our people are:
Ali Greaser Jess E Kim with special mention for Kala for helping from conceptualization of the campaign. There were fans in various locations who helped out too. I just don’t have their names, but if they see this, feel free to chime in somewhere.
On December 19th, Denver looked like this:
Our stickers arrived that day and Kim and I proceeded to spend every waking moment adding in the distinctive red stripes. Like this:
